Surgery
Your procedure
Your procedure will be performed in hospital to ensure you receive the best possible care. The hospital is a safe and well-equipped environment that has the appropriate equipment and staff to safely monitor your recovery and deal with any potential complications.
Your procedure will require at least a one night stay in hospital. While it is possible to perform many plastic and reconstructive procedures as 'day cases', the Form & Function staff prefer to closely monitor your post-surgical recovery to ensure the best possible results.
Risks
Please keep in mind all surgery carries some uncertainty and risk (however slight). To minimise risks please follow Dr Ingram's advice both prior to and following your surgery.
Some surgical risk can include:
- Possibility of infection
- Bleeding
- Blood clots
- Allergies such as adverse reactions to the anaesthesia
- Scarring
- Temporary and very occasionally permanent numbness to the area which has been operated on.
It is important that you do not smoke for at least two weeks prior to surgery as smoking increases surgical and anaesthetic risk.
